Vegetation management is all about gaining control of lands and areas that have become overgrown or inaccessible by taming or removing unwanted trees, branches, bushes, weeds, and vines to allow easier human, animal and vehicle access or to prevent hazards and reduce interference with utilities.
I help clear land for clients for most any reason, but I specialize in environmentally responsible clearing that aims to restore and support native and wildlife habitats and improve the health and usability of private and public lands. Invasive species like honeysuckle, buckthorn, and autumn olive can quickly overrun woodlands, open spaces, and fence lines, inhibiting the health of native species and disrupting the balance of indigenous plants - once prominent in our region.
There are a few ways to clear land of undesirable vegetation. A common and human labor-intensive method is sawing, stacking and burning small piles. It takes a crew of people, is hard work and requires adequate time and conditions for burning the piles of brush and trees. If burning is not possible due to ordinance rules, then unwanted piles need to be hauled away or left in place.
Another method is using equipment to literally rip out woody vegetation and younger trees (root and all), pile up that debris, methodically burn down those piles by tending it with equipment. Conversely, hauling the debris away must be factored in if burning cannot be done. This method is effective as far as removing undesired vegetation. However, it can be problematic by causing significant damage to project area soil structures and root systems of nearby desirable trees and plants. It can also re-introduce more undesirable species as dormant seeds (which were once below the surface) are waiting to get stirred up, receive sunlight and begin to grow, thus starting the viscous cycle over again in the soils that have been disturbed.
For the most efficient and environmentally friendly method, I operate professional forestry mowing and mulching equipment to literally mow down undesirable species of woody brush and small trees. The forestry mower mulches the debris right to the ground to decompose and embellish to the soil structure - no hauling or burning required! Once cleared, your land is easier to maintain, healthier, and far more enjoyable.
Let me help you reclaim your property so you can fully enjoy your treasured land and support the healthy return of native trees, shrubs, and grasses at the same time.
